![]() The OLD SOCOM picatinny rails were DD, and they’re nice and compact but I’d still trust my old Midwest Industries rail any day of the week in Iraqistan. If you buy an MLOK rail made out of the same grade aluminum as the G, it’ll likely do just as well for your purposes as the SOCOM rail. SOCOM assess SEVERAL aspects of the rails when they buy on though, to include all the metrics like strength and zero retention but also unit cost, replacement cost of mounting hardware when an operator decides to do his own maintenance and loses the screws, service packages, installation time, they factor in the time it takes to remove and reinstall the rail in conjunction w standard maintenance, etc. I’ve got an Aero on my home gun and it’s every bit as solid as the G my work gun. Geissele is just the brand of MLOK rail they ended up buying. Why should I buy a best mlok rails You can tell if you need or want a best mlok rails by looking at your existing inventory. MLOK as an attachment system was tested by USASOC a few years back and found to be better than both picatinny and Keymod particularly in shearing force tests. If you’re still unsure which type of best mlok rails is best for you, I recommend comparing the characteristics and functionalities of the best mlok rails listed above. With that said i do want a DD Ris II m4a1 rail DD makes great durable rails but i am just not a fan on how they lock up to the reaceiver where it just hugs the barrel nut. i think their mk8 and mk4 serious are the serious rails for durability. If it was a litter wider on the inside i don't think you would have a problem but we know with longer rails the more susceptible to bending/breaking. The issue with the mk16 is the skinny inside diameter since they made the rail so thick of material when you drop it the steel gas block contacts the rail and causes a crack or bend (whatever happened. A lot can be said for the owl and DD irons to for keeping zero. I know it isn't scientific but after that i would have no problem trusting that rail or any of their rails on my go to rifle. We did not run over it although we still may, but i am sure a full size truck would bend it buy might try the UTV. The plastic grip and stock were broken and we messed up the holes on the buffer tube so a new stock wouldn't lock onto it. The rail was beat up and didn't look good but it sure held zero on the irons. Dropped it 23 feet up in a tree stand onto a stump. Took it on gravel roads so not just in a field. drug it for 2 miles behind a UTV, and a truck. ![]() We didn't use a mawl or anything like that but it had an OWL and DD fixed iron sights. ![]() We took an M&P sport, changed the rout out for a larue LAT mlok rail, did our own torture test to it. You may not like the look of them but the larue LAT has been robust for us testing it. ![]()
